It's now possible to pre-order the second Blackfield album, another collection of 10 perfectly crafted songs of beauty and melancholia that expands on the orchestrated rock of their eponymous release, combining great hooks, sweeping strings, explosive guitars, and lush vocal harmonies (you can hear previews from the album on Blackfield's MySpace page). Please note that this is the European digipack (the US edition, with the same content, will follow in March) and is released on 12th Feb, but the CD will be shipped to arrive with you on - or just before - the release date. You can order it either from SW's own Headphone Dust Mail Order, or from Burning Shed (orders from Headphone Dust will receive a nice littie extra, a Lasse Hoile illustrated postcard of the lyrics to album track "My Gift of Silence"). Of course Blackfield II should be widely available, but buying direct from one of these sites does help support the artists.
The new Blackfield album, recorded in Tel Aviv and London in the first half of 2006, is to be issued in February. Check the band's MySpace site for audio samples and a track listing. The band will be touring both Europe and the US to promote the album from February.
The first Blackfield album is being reissued at mid-price on 22nd May by Snapper Music, now without the bonus disc. The double CD edition is now out of print, but there are a few copies still available from various mail order companies including Headphone Dust.
